What is Trust Flow?
Trust Flow is a metric from the SEO tool Majestic that rates, on a scale from 0 to 100, how trustworthy the links pointing to a website are. The score depends on how few link steps separate a site from a set of manually selected trusted websites. It is not a Google metric.
Why is Trust Flow important?
- Quality over quantity: the score shows whether your links come from trustworthy sources.
- Competitor comparison: you can quickly see who has the stronger link profile.
- Spotting spam: a low Trust Flow despite many links can point to doubtful sources.
Examples of Trust Flow
- A business site with links from trade media and industry associations usually has a higher Trust Flow
- A site with many links from spam sites ends up with a low Trust Flow
- A low Trust Flow next to a high Citation Flow is a warning sign
How do you use Trust Flow?
Use Trust Flow as a comparison metric, not as a goal in itself. Focus on relevant links from trustworthy websites in your industry, and compare your score with your competitors’ (link building).
