What is Google Shopping?
Google Shopping shows products with an image, price and store name directly in Google’s search results, based on a product feed from Google Merchant Center. Listings can be paid, through Shopping ads, or free. This lets searchers compare products before they click through to an online store.
Why is Google Shopping important?
- Visual: searchers see a photo and price before the click.
- Strong purchase intent: someone who searches for a product often wants to buy it.
- Free and paid: there are two routes, free listings and paid ads.
Examples of Google Shopping
- For the search “black running shoes women”, a row of products from different stores appears.
- An online store runs its feed as a paid ad through a Shopping campaign or Performance Max.
- The same online store also appears in free listings.
How do you use Google Shopping?
First make sure you have a good product feed in Merchant Center and check that price and stock are correct. Then choose whether to be visible for free only or to advertise as well, and optimize by product group or margin. Read more under e-commerce stores.
