What is organic traffic?
Organic traffic is the number of visitors who reach your website through unpaid search results, for example via Google or Bing. It differs from paid traffic that comes from ads. In Google Analytics 4 you will find it under the Organic Search channel.
Why is organic traffic important?
- No cost per click: you do not pay for each visitor, although SEO does take time and effort.
- Lasting reach: a well-ranking page can keep bringing in visitors for a long time.
- Targeted visitors: people search for your topic themselves, so they already have an interest.
Examples of organic traffic
- A visitor searching “best running shoes” who lands on your category page
- Someone who finds one of your blog articles via Bing
- A reader who arrives on your site through Google Images
