What is SEO visibility?
SEO visibility is a measure of how often and how prominently a website appears in the organic search results for relevant queries. You measure it with impressions and average positions in Google Search Console, or with a visibility score in SEO tools. Those scores are estimates that differ per tool, so only compare them within the same tool.
Why is SEO visibility important?
- A requirement for traffic: if you don’t appear, you can’t be clicked.
- Brand awareness: even without a click, people see your brand name in the results.
- An early indicator: rising or falling visibility quickly shows whether your approach works or an update has hit you.
Examples of SEO visibility
- Impressions and average position in Google Search Console
- The visibility score in a tool such as Ahrefs or Sistrix
- The number of keywords you rank for in the top 10
How do you improve SEO visibility?
