What are zero-click searches?
Zero-click searches are searches where the user sees the answer directly in the search results and does not click on any result. This happens, for example, through a featured snippet, a knowledge panel, a local pack or an AI overview. Your site may be shown, but it is not visited.
Why are zero-click searches important?
- Fewer clicks: simple questions in particular bring less and less traffic.
- Visibility is still valuable: your name inside the answer builds brand awareness.
- Different measuring needed: look at impressions and branded searches, not only at clicks.
Examples of zero-click searches
- “weather Seattle tomorrow”
- “opening hours bakery near me”, answered in the local pack
- “what is 15% of 80”, answered by a built-in calculator
How do you deal with zero-click searches?
Focus your pages on questions where a one-line answer is not enough, and make sure your brand shows up in snippets, your Google Business Profile and AI answers (GEO). Measure the impact in Search Console.
