What are AI Overviews?

AI Overviews are AI-generated summaries that Google shows at the top of the search results for many queries. They answer a question in a few sentences and include links to the websites the answer is based on. Google decides for itself which searches get an overview.

Why are AI Overviews important?

• More space at the top: the overview sits above the regular results.
• Possibly fewer clicks: sometimes the summary is enough for the searcher.
• Source links: being linked in an overview brings visibility and traffic.

Examples of AI Overviews

• A search for “how long do solar panels last” shows a short explanation with source links.

How do you get mentioned in AI Overviews?

According to Google, no special tricks are needed: the basis remains helpful, reliable content that is technically easy to find. Answer questions clearly, use descriptive headings and show who is writing. This falls under GEO.
