What is a brand campaign?
A brand campaign is a Google Ads campaign that targets searches containing your own brand name, such as your company name or a product name. Your ad then appears for people who already know you and are actively looking for you. Brand campaigns are usually set up separately from generic campaigns, so you see budget and results on their own.
Why is a brand campaign important?
- Visible on your own name: even when competitors bid on your brand name.
- Separate numbers: you keep brand traffic apart from non-brand traffic in your reporting.
- Control over your message: assets let you show offers and link to the right pages.
Examples of a brand campaign
- A sports store advertises on its own store name and shows sitelinks to the sale and the returns policy.
- A plumber shows a sitelink to “report a breakdown” next to its company name.
- An agency reports brand and non-brand separately, so brand clicks do not distort the figures.
How do you set up a brand campaign?
Create a separate campaign with keywords for your brand name and common spellings, set its own budget and add sitelinks and other assets. Exclude your brand name in generic campaigns so results do not blend. More about Google Ads campaigns.
