Core Web Vitals

Definition in short: Three Google metrics that measure how fast, responsive and visually stable a page is.

What are Core Web Vitals?

Core Web Vitals are three Google metrics for the user experience of a web page: LCP for loading speed, INP for responsiveness and CLS for visual stability. They are measured on real visitors and form part of the page experience signals Google uses to assess pages.

Why are Core Web Vitals important?

  • Better user experience: a fast, stable page keeps visitors engaged and avoids frustration.
  • Light ranking factor: they are one of many Google signals, but relevant, helpful content still matters more.
  • Measurable: Google Search Console shows which pages perform well and which need attention.

Examples of Core Web Vitals

  • LCP: the largest image or heading is visible within 2.5 seconds.
  • INP: the page responds within 200 milliseconds to a click or tap.
  • CLS: the layout does not jump when a banner or image loads (a score of 0.1 or lower).

How do you improve Core Web Vitals?

Measure your pages in PageSpeed Insights and in the Core Web Vitals report in Search Console. Compress images, load scripts later, and reserve fixed space for images and ads. See also our technical SEO service.
