What are sitelinks?
Sitelinks are extra links that Google shows under a search result and that point directly to important parts of a website, such as “Contact” or “Pricing”. They appear mostly for searches on a brand name. Google picks them automatically based on the structure of your site; you can’t set them directly.
Why are sitelinks important?
- More space: your result takes up more room and competitors are pushed down.
- Quick navigation: visitors land directly on the right page.
- A professional look: sitelinks make your brand look bigger and more established in the results.
Examples of sitelinks
- A search for the brand name: links to Services, About us, Contact and Blog
- Online store: Women, Men, Sale and Returns
- Local service provider: Request a quote and Service area
How do you get sitelinks?
You can’t request sitelinks, but you can improve your chances. Provide a clear site architecture, logical menus, short descriptive page titles and good internal links, so Google can see which pages matter. Sitelinks only appear when Google considers them useful. See SEO.
